The Whistler Village and Blackcomb Benchlands

Designed by Eldon Beck, the Whistler Village has ebb and flow and views and sun setting design precedents for many other mountain resorts to follow.

In 1977 a community plan was devised to turn what was the valleys garbage dump into a Village between the two towering mountains of Whistler and Blackcomb. The vision was achieved and now Whistler Village is a internationally renowned world-class resort. It is a pedestrian-only village so when you visit you don’t need a car.

The Whistler Village and the Blackcomb Benchlands are at the heart of it all, conveniently located just steps from restaurants, spas, shopping and nightclubs. Convenience is key to these properties with everything you could possibly need close by.

The Village is the hub of life in the resort, and where all the action and excitement is centred. You will find hundreds of shops, liquor stores, grocery stores, multi-plex cinema, concert venues and so much more.

The properties within the Village and Benchlands primarily cater to the short-term visitor, so most have restrictive covenants to ensure there are homes available for visitors to rent and enjoy. For example, of the 7,700 village area properties, only 42 are detached residences.

Some Whistler Village Highlights:

Whistler Farmers’ Market The Farmers' Market takes place very Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Upper Village. The market features a wide variety of fresh, organic and locally grown produce plus arts and crafts, jewelry, baked goods and much more.

The Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre

A must-see attraction, the Cultural Centre is where the area’s fascinating First Nations’ history comes alive with exhibits, interpretive guides and more. Yes Whistler has stunning geography, but there’s a wealth of history as well.

Celebration Plaza

A fantastic Olympic Legacy, this out door Plaza has a state of the art stage and sound system for outdoor concerts and an ice skating rink in the winter.

Whistler Public Library

Whistler’s Millennium Project is a beautiful Leeds Gold Design building that can sometimes have as many visitors as the mountains on a quiet November day.
